Event, July 9: Writing Together, Across Borders — A Family Literacy Event

Come write with two old friends, Mohsin Tejani from Karachi, Pakistan, and Lee Krishnan from Mumbai, India, meeting up in person after a long time, unable to get visas to travel across to each other’s countries!

This engaging event by Southasia Peace Action Network, Sapan, is the second in the series ‘Write for Peace’.

It will be held online and in-person in Cambridge, MA, USA.

Write with us in-person if you’re in the Boston area or join us online. Share your stories of friendship and your dreams of a world where cross-border friendships, travel and peace are a reality.

About the hosts:

Lee Krishnan

A teacher, writer, animal rights activist, intrepid traveller, Lee Krishnan lives life on her own terms. Professionally, she has Master’s degrees in English (Middlebury College, USA) and History, and a B.Ed (Mumbai University). She co-directs the ABL Rising Loaves Summer Programme for middle-school students. Krishnan currently teaches at the Diamond Jubilee High School in Mumbai, India.

Mohsin Tejani

For Mohsin Tejani, the most profound learning experiences have happened within ‘communities of learners’. In recent years, he has organised ‘Family Literacy Nights’, where families write and share as a community; multimedia storytelling programmes where youth create human interest stories in different mediums — text, visual, audio; ‘Arts Without Boundaries’ where young people integrate music, theatre, creative writing and photography to curate powerful narratives; and travelogue programmes for teachers and schoolchildren mapping out socio-cultural aspects of cities in Pakistan. Tejani established the School of Writing in 2010. He is also the director of Andover Bread Loaf, Massachusetts, USA.
