Mon. 8 Dec, Boston area: ‘South Asia Bound’ film premiere

You are invited!

Join us for the premiere of South Asia Bound: The Cost of National Identity, a documentary film by Zac Colah, an independent journalist and senior at Tufts University.

The just-completed, 24-minute film, shot over the past summer in Pakistan, explores how unitary and exclusionary national identities in India and Pakistan foster division both within and across national lines.

The documentary brings archaic state narratives of mythical unity and division into the spotlight through the voices of artist Salima Hashmi, musician Taimur Rahman, academics Aasim Sajjad Akhtar and Furrukh Khan, and filmmaker Zac Colah.

How can a recognition of Southasia’s incredible diversity and shared economic interests help build a better future?

After the film, Zac Colah and Beena Sarwar, co-founder of Southasia Peace Action Network and founder editor Sapan News, will have a brief fireside chat. There will also be an opportunity for audience questions.

📆 DATE: Monday, 8 December
TIME: 7pm–8pm
📍 LOCATION: Lecture Room, Cambridge Public Library,
449 Broadway, Cambridge, MA
